Secret-Cleared Dimension Control Technician

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Secret-Cleared Dimension Control Technician in Palmdale, CA for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Dimension Control Technician will support tooling operations by laying out, fabricating, assembling, aligning, and inspecting major jigs, fixtures, tooling gauges, and related equipment. This role involves working to exact tolerances, developing reference systems and working build models, operating optical measurement instruments, and supporting complex aerospace tooling activities.

Required Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No prior related experience required.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Current active DoD security clearance required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program clearance within approximately 1.5 years.
• Experience devising reference systems and creating working build models.
• Ability to read and work from tool-design drawings.
• Ability to plan work and determine methods and sequences of operation.
• Ability to set up and operate optical instruments.
• Ability to inspect the alignment, fit, and adjustment of tooling assemblies.
• Ability to work with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe PDF.
• Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing up to 35 lbs.
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in warehouse and shop-floor environments.

Preferred Skills

• Master-level knowledge of multiple computer-aided metrology systems, including laser trackers, articulated arms, scanners, and six-degree-of-freedom systems.
• Experience with reverse engineering and creating models from collected data.
• Knowledge of integrated airframes and aerostructures.
• Experience with Verisurf X, SpatialAnalyzer, Maya Matrix, BuildIT, or PolyWorks.
• Tool-building or laser-tracking experience in a manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Do

• Lay out, fabricate, and assemble standard and nonstandard jigs, fixtures, tool masters, tooling gauges, and related equipment.
• Support tooling involving compound angles, complex contours, tooling holes, and reference points across multiple planes.
• Determine work methods and operational sequences.
• Work from tool-design drawings or internally developed designs.
• Set up and operate optical instruments to verify alignment, fit, and adjustment.
• Develop holding devices and jig and fixture details.
• Prepare operational sequences and shop drawings for parts fabrication and assembly.
• Monitor and verify quality according to applicable statistical-process or quality-control procedures.
• Support aerospace tooling and dimension-control activities in a manufacturing environment.

Pay

• $27.16 per hour.
