PGS Worldwide is seeking a Secret-Eligible Embedded Software Engineer in San Diego, CA for a one-year contract role supporting Northrop Grumman.

The Embedded Software Engineer will design, develop, integrate, and test real-time embedded software focused on Link 16 and Tactical Datalink software code bases. This onsite role requires strong C/C++ skills, object-oriented programming experience, embedded real-time systems experience, Agile software development experience, and the ability to obtain a U.S. government Secret clearance.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or another STEM discipline with 5 years of related experience, master’s degree with 3 years of experience, or PhD with 1 year of experience.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Secret clearance.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite at the Rancho Carmel location in San Diego, CA.
  • Proficiency in C/C++.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming.
  • Experience across the formal software lifecycle, from requirements through testing.
  • Experience integrating low-level firmware and software in complex real-time, multi-threaded embedded applications.
  • Experience developing and debugging embedded real-time systems.
  • Familiarity with static analysis and unit testing.
  • Experience using Jira, Bitbucket, Git, and Agile software development processes.
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting Link 16 waveform in an embedded software environment.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as Tactical Datalink radios or terminals.
  • Familiarity with Link 16/TACAN waveform standard documents.
  • Familiarity with CORBA.
  • Familiarity with Software Communications Architecture.
  • Experience with Software Defined Radios.

Preferred Skills

  • Active Secret or Top Secret clearance.
  • Active SAP clearance.
  • Avionics Operating System experience.
  • Xilinx platform experience, including Zynq, Ultrascale+, or VERSAL.
  • Yocto or Petalinux experience.
  • Communication protocol experience, including I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, and Ethernet.
  • TCP/IP and network configuration experience.
  • Experience implementing cryptographic mechanisms using software libraries.
  • Rust experience.
  • Familiarity with Vitis, Vivado, HAIPE, OTNK, IKE, MIL-STD-6016, assembly language, PowerPC architectures, or Linux kernel driver development.
  • Familiarity with bare metal embedded device drivers.
  • Familiarity with IBM tools such as Rhapsody, DOORS, or Clearcase.
  • Familiarity with Green Hills AdaMulti.
  • Experience supporting Networked Information Solutions program portfolios.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software for end-user customers and defense programs.
  • Support Link 16 and Tactical Datalink software code bases.
  • Develop and administer embedded and real-time software systems.
  • Work with Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, Hardware, and Integration & Test teams.
  • Support Agile software development activities.
  • Analyze system capabilities and resolve software issues related to program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
  • Support embedded software architecture, design, development, integration, troubleshooting, and testing.

Work Schedule / Shift

  • 9x80 A schedule.
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Onsite role.

Pay

  • $79.84/hour
