    Position Summary

    Representing the Student Affairs Office in the College of Education, this position will be responsible for providing general office assistance in support of unit operations and events, as well as support for the Director; specific job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with scheduling and reserving rooms; providing front-desk assistance and triage as needed; ordering departmental supplies and managing inventory; maintaining student records; monitoring and supervising student employees; event support, to include: room reservations; maintaining attendee and guest information; parking logistics; ordering food and supplies; location and event logistics; day of event support; providing support to the Director related to scheduling, phones, correspondence, and other general support items as needed; other duties as assigned to carry out the mission of the Student Affairs Office, the College of Education, and Michigan State University.

    Minimum Requirements

    Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education with coursework in typing and shorthand; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, calendaring and/or presentation software; typing and filing; and may require knowledge of technical or medical terminology and/or technical training related to the field of employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Desired Qualifications

    Experience in maintaining student records; experience with event planning; knowledge and understanding of University policies and procedures; experience in a Higher Education setting; experience with Michigan State University (MSU) Enterprise Business Systems (SAP, Kuali Finance, Business Intelligence); experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook software; experience with Student Information System (SIS); ability to work effectively on multiple tasks with changing priorities; displays strong interpersonal skills, including oral and written communications; displays a great attention to detail; demonstrates a work orientation that includes problem solving, seeing the bigger picture, forecasting potential trouble spots, taking initiative, the ability to work as part of a team and independently, and a dedication to continuous self-improvement.
