QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for
assigned responsibilities and such alternatives or other qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable; ability to exercise tact cooperation in dealing with Board of Education personnel, and/or outside agencies and the general
public.
Physical Requirements:
Sufficient manual dexterity to enable operation of typewriters and computer keyboards; ability to communicate well verbally and in writing; good vision and hearing, without corrective devices. Position often requires sitting and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods of time. Position requires occasional lifting of boxes up to 25 pounds.

JOB GOAL: To contribute to the efficient operation of the Central Office so that it can play its effective part in the education process.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy, yet productive and smoothly run office.
- The Central Office Secretary for Student Services shall provide clerical assistance for the area to which assigned. May be assigned to a specific department, but it is understood that these individuals may be rotated in order to meet workloads of the Central Office, such as switchboard coverage.
- Prepares a variety of materials, such as letters, student records, reports, memos, monthly statements, etc., from rough drafts or corrected copy.
- Verifies totals on report forms, requisitions, etc., and proofreads work of other secretaries as requested.
- Prepares requisitions and invoices for supervisors' signatures.
- Operates a variety of office machines and equipment.
- Composes letters, memoranda, instruction notices or other such routine transmittals on a variety of subjects relative to the functions of the professional staff for which she works.
- Assists in updating and maintaining handbooks and manuals for Student Services.
- Coordinates submission of time sheets for Student Services staff.
- Maintains and distributes Maryland Student Record Cards (SRCs) to schools.
- Maintains and files records regarding Out-Of-Zone student placements.
- Compiles information for discipline/expulsion reports.
- Manages records, compiles information and prepares reports regarding Home/Hospital Teaching.
- Manages records, compiles information and prepares reports regarding Informal Kinship Care.
- Manages records, compiles information and prepares reports regarding incidents of bullying.
- Manages records compiles information and prepares State reports regarding Homeless students.
- As necessary, manages records, compiles information and prepares State reports regarding Home Schooling.
- Manages records, compiles information of 504 Accommodation Plans for students throughout the county.
- Compiles information and prepares State Near County Lines report.
- Compiles information and prepares State Out of County Living Arrangements report.
- Maintains inventory of Student Services' resource materials.
- Prepares for State attendance/enrollment audits as required.
- Compiles beginning of school year attendance/enrollment data, and prepares reports as required.
- Compiles end of year data, by school, and prepares reports as required.
- Maintains student permanent records as required by State, including scanning and housing of graduate and inactive student files.
- Prepares transcript requests as required.
- Scans and manages all other documents as determined necessary for the Department of Student Services.
- Schedules disciplinary hearings, maintains student discipline files, including database for Alternative School placed students.
- Assure all rules regarding confidentiality are observed.
- Performs various related office duties as assigned.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As found in the Agreement Between the Kent County Educational Support
Personnel Association and The Board of Education of Kent County. Twelve (12) month position.
SALARY LANE: Secretary Lane "P". Step established by the Superintendent.
BARGAINING UNIT: Kent County Educational Support Personnel Association
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt.
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
