Job Title: Section Coordinator (Laboratory)

Location: Port Charlotte, FL
Job Type: Full-Time (Permanent)
Schedule: Nights (Rotating Weekends)


Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Section Coordinator (Laboratory) to support clinical laboratory operations within a fast-paced healthcare environment.

This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely diagnostic testing, supporting operational excellence, and assisting leadership with staff development and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise and leadership capabilities to drive quality patient care.


Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations

  • Perform STAT testing procedures and analyze patient samples
  • Conduct quality control procedures in accordance with established protocols
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and timely
  • Prioritize, perform, or delegate testing based on:
    • Patient needs
    • Staff competency levels
    • Productivity standards
    • Departmental policies and procedures

Leadership & Staff Support

  • Assist leadership with staff development and training initiatives
  • Support regulatory compliance efforts (e.g., CAP and other governing bodies)
  • Mentor and guide laboratory personnel
  • Provide operational feedback and updates to management
  • Promote a positive work environment and teamwork

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to laboratory standards and regulatory requirements
  • Support quality improvement initiatives
  • Maintain high standards for accuracy and turnaround times in diagnostic services

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Associate Degree in Science (required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology (preferred)

Licensure & Certifications

  • State of Florida Technologist Supervisory License (required)
  • ASCP certification (or equivalent) strongly preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist required
