Section Lab Supervisor

Job Overview

In this role, you will oversee and coordinate the technical operations within the designated cost center, ensuring that laboratory services are delivered accurately and promptly to support physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. You will be responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures relevant to your area, while ensuring adherence to organizational policies. Your leadership will guide the staff, and you will collaborate closely with fellow supervisors to synchronize laboratory functions. Additionally, you will prepare and manage the budget for your assigned cost center, schedule staff, and assign workstations as needed. When required, you will also perform duties as a technologist. It is essential to meet all regulatory, licensing, and accreditation standards for your areas of responsibility. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate laboratory operations to ensure timely and accurate services.
• Develop and implement relevant policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
• Provide leadership and supervision to laboratory staff.
• Collaborate with other supervisors to enhance laboratory functions.
• Prepare and manage the budget for the assigned cost center.
• Schedule staff and assign workstations effectively.
• Perform technologist duties as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, licensing, and accreditation requirements.
• Model professional behavior to create a patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Patient Age Range: All age groups.
• Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree; an Associate’s Degree with over 8 years of relevant experience may be considered in place of a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Preferred Education: Master’s Degree.
• Essential Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, capacity to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines, proficient computer skills, technical competence in laboratory principles and procedures, and knowledge of laboratory regulatory issues.
• Required Licensure/Certifications: Must obtain Florida licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in the relevant area within three months of hire or transfer.
• Required Experience: More than 5 years in roles such as Technologist, Histocompatibility Technologist, Histotechnologist, or Cytotechnologist.
• Preferred Experience: Supervisory experience.
• Supervisory Responsibility: Oversee a team of 30 employees.
• Budgetary Responsibility: Manage an annual budget of $2,500,000.00.
• Preferred Licensure/Certifications: Florida licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor and national certification from the ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) for relevant work areas.
