OverviewThe Office of the Attorney General's Department of Law, Civil Litigation and Employment Law section seeks a Litigation Manager to lead and improve how the Section tracks, manages, and delivers litigation across multiple practice areas. The role involves building and refining systems, analyzing case and workload data, informing leadership decisions, and driving meaningful process improvements in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.ResponsibilitiesManage the Section's litigation‑related projects and identify opportunities to improve tracking, coordination, and delivery of litigation work.Collect, track, and analyze litigation data to identify trends, workloads, and resource needs, and use this information to support staffing decisions and operational improvements.Identify staffing needs, improve workflows, implement best practices, and facilitate after‑action reviews.Serve as the work lead and a resource for all section paralegals, guiding and improving practice standards through influence rather than supervisory authority.Collaborate with paralegals to understand day‑to‑day workflows, identify challenges and inefficiencies, and support consistent practices.Develop manuals and trainings to support implementation of new and existing practices and procedures, including training of paralegals and attorneys on litigation‑related systems.Assist the Section's leadership team, including the State and Federal Employment Litigation Program, in managing litigation matters through project management and coordinating paralegal staffing.Identify and implement process improvements to ensure the Section's litigation practices meet or exceed industry standards, monitoring progress, establishing work standards, and supporting high‑quality work product.Coordinate case intake, data collection, knowledge and document management procedures, and quality control for discovery and other litigation processes.Minimum QualificationsSeven (7) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.OR a combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to seven (7) years.Candidate must be a resident of the State of Colorado at the time of submitting the application.Submit transcripts for substituted qualifications or foreign degrees; translations/evaluations must be provided as required.Preferred QualificationsLegal project management and/or legal process analysis and improvement experience.Experience tracking workloads, case assignments, or operational metrics across teams or projects.Ability to consolidate information from multiple sources (case management systems, spreadsheets, reports).Experience working in a litigation environment.Familiarity with legal case‑management systems (e.g., ProLaw).Experience developing dashboards or visual reports.Required CompetenciesAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and complex data analysis.Strong analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends or workload patterns, and translate findings into practical recommendations.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Effective communication and active listening skills that inspire confidence.Flexibility and adaptability to lead with new concepts and encourage positive change.Coaching and developing people, pushing individuals beyond comfort zones.Creative and strategic problem‑solving, result‑oriented, open‑minded, and innovative.Interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, demonstrating self‑awareness, self‑regulation, empathy, and sensitivity in diverse interactions.Conditions of EmploymentApplicants must pass a thorough background investigation prior to appointment.Position offers flexible work arrangements; new employees are expected to work in‑office, with further flexibility considered after successful onboarding and training.Colorado Department of Law participates in E‑Verify and will provide federal information to confirm U.S. work authorization.BenefitsMedical and dental health plans.Employer‑paid life insurance.Paid vacation and sick leave earned each month.11 paid holidays per year.Public Service Loan Forgiveness opportunity after 120 on‑time payments.Free access to an on‑site fitness center.Flexible retirement benefits including 401(k) and 457 plans.Distinctive career advancement opportunities throughout the State personnel system.Excellent work‑life programs such as flexible schedules, professional development opportunities, and an employee discount program.Equal Employment OpportunityThe State of Colorado believes that equity, diversity, and inclusion drive our success, and we encourage candidates from all identities, backgrounds, and abilities to apply.
