Location Rockport INCleveland-Cliffs Rockport Works is looking for aSection Manager Operations in our Finishing area. The Section Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations in the CGL department. The Section Manager oversees shift managers department admins and operating crews as it pertains to safety environmental quality and productivity to meet established annual plans. The Section Manager will also oversee the daily activities of section engineers and partner with the section maintenance and technical groups to achieve established metrics.Summary of ResponsibilitiesOverall management of day-to-day operations including safety environmental quality production maintenance and unitproduction sequence scheduling and crew schedulingProvide work instruction and training to operating units to certify product quality meets the requirements of internal external customer and IATF16949 standardAbility to make rapid well thought out decisions while under time constraintsAvailability to provide instruction and guidance during off shifts and weekends on a 247365 basisProvide adherence to process control key variables through reporting observation performance tracking and communication to ensure continuous improvement in employee safety product quality and productivityIdentify and prioritize areas in the section which require improvement and see that assistance is enlisted from all necessary personnel and groupsPerform data analysis process observation troubleshooting and problem solving to monitor and audit processes and proceduresActively participant in all department incident accident SIFps CXRs and root cause investigations and responsesImplement and assist in process improvements for safety quality productivity and cost reduction effortsOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsBachelors Degree in a technical field and 5 years of operating experience or 10 years of equivalent operating experienceProficient in Microsoft Office computer data collection systems statistical system knowledgeProblem-solving skillsPreferred QualificationsStrong operations and technical background in the shaping treating and processing of steel sheet5 or more years of demonstrated leadership skillsCleveland-Cliffs Inc. is the largest flat-rolled steel company and the largest iron ore pellet producer in North America.
