Job Description

Support the mission of Old Dominion University in the operation of regulated research environments. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for building, deploying, and maintaining systems and applications that support researchers secure research computing needs. They will combine technical skills with big picture thinking to accelerate collaborative, regulated research activities and supporting controlled information systems under the National Industrial Security Program (NISP).

Minimum Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of scripting languages such as bash, PowerShell, and Python. • Thorough knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures for system and application administration. • Considerable knowledge of network design, administration, operations, and security. • Some knowledge of Windows and Linux hardware and software support and appropriate system practices. • Some knowledge of the application development lifecycle, including build, release, and deployment. • Some knowledge of public and private cloud environments. • Strong problem-solving, research, and analytical skills. • Ability to work in a team. • Ability to plan work and set priorities.
