Austin Area | $35 $42/hr
TradeSTAR is hiring experienced Security & Access Control Service Technicians for commercial service, troubleshooting, and integrated security projects throughout the Austin area. These positions support enterprise-level commercial facilities, healthcare campuses, industrial sites, corporate offices, schools, and mission-critical environments.
We are seeking highly skilled technicians with strong experience servicing, diagnosing, programming, and troubleshooting commercial electronic security systems and integrated access control platforms.

Job Responsibilities
Perform service, diagnostics, repair, and maintenance on commercial security and access control systems
Troubleshoot and repair access control panels, IP camera systems, intrusion alarm systems, and integrated low-voltage infrastructure
Install, replace, and service card readers, electrified locking devices, mag locks, electric strikes, request-to-exit devices, door contacts, motion detectors, and power supplies
Diagnose communication failures, controller faults, network connectivity issues, relay failures, and device-level malfunctions
Service and troubleshoot IP-based CCTV and video surveillance systems including NVRs, switches, and edge devices
Configure and troubleshoot door controllers, panel hardware, network-connected devices, and cloud-based access control platforms
Perform firmware updates, panel programming, database modifications, and credential management
Interpret blueprints, device layouts, riser diagrams, sequence of operations, and wiring schematics
Perform system testing, device verification, and final operational checks
Maintain accurate service reports, deficiency lists, and as-built documentation
Interface with project managers, building engineers, IT departments, and end users during service calls and system outages
Respond to emergency service calls and preventative maintenance requests across commercial facilities

Technical Requirements
3+ years of commercial security and access control service experience
Strong troubleshooting experience with enterprise-level access control systems and IP-based security infrastructure
Knowledge of low-voltage wiring methods, relay logic, power distribution, and network communication protocols
Experience diagnosing RS-485 communication issues, panel faults, door hardware failures, and IP connectivity problems
Understanding of integrated systems including CCTV, intrusion detection, intercom, and building access platforms
Ability to independently troubleshoot field devices, head-end equipment, and network-connected security systems
Reliable transportation and industry-standard hand tools required
