Description

Role - Security Architect
Location - Columbia SC - Remote position with 1 week req Onsite and 3 days per month onsite in Columbia, SC.
Duration - 12+ Months

Scope of the Project

  • Support day-to-day operations and cloud migration initiatives as the organization transitions to a managed cloud broker model.
  • Assist with the migration of infrastructure and applications to AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
  • Ensure operational stability and continuity of shared cloud services across AWS and Azure platforms.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to build, manage, and optimize enterprise cloud infrastructure.

Daily Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform system administration, automation, and development activities for the Cloud Management Platform (CMP).
  • Partner with DTO and customer teams to plan and execute migrations to the organization's cloud infrastructure.
  • Maintain and support shared cloud services across AWS and Azure environments.
  • Automate cloud infrastructure deployment and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud platform performance and reliability.
  • Support enterprise cloud governance, security, and operational best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to team members.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful cloud adoption and migration.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in:
    • Infrastructure Engineering
    • Systems Engineering
    • DevOps
    • Solution/Cloud Architecture
  • 8+ years of experience in Technical Architecture.
  • 5 7 years of hands-on AWS experience, including:
    • IAM (Identity & Access Management)
    • AWS Organizations
    • Networking Architectures
    • Cost Management and Governance
    • Public Cloud Infrastructure
  • 3 5 years of hands-on Microsoft Azure experience, including:
    • Azure RBAC
    • Azure Active Directory (Azure AD)
    • Networking Architectures
    • Cost Management and Governance
  • 3 7 years of Enterprise Cloud Architecture or Cloud Governance experience.
  • 3 5 years of experience with:
    • Terraform
    • Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • 3 5 years of Cloud Migration and Cloud Platform Operations experience.
  • 3+ years providing technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge transfer.
  • Strong expertise supporting Public Cloud infrastructure environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Expert-level experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Experience designing scalable cloud architectures and solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and/or other public cloud platforms.
  • Experience with container technologies, including:
    • Kubernetes
    • Docker
    • Other container orchestration platforms
  • Knowledge of cloud security, penetration testing, and threat detection tools.
  • Experience with:
    • ServiceNow
    • Datadog
    • Dome9
    • Aviatrix
  • Background in:
    • DevOps
    • Software Development
    • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
    • Systems Engineering
  • Experience with:
    • Configuration Management
    • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in:
    • Computer Science
    • Information Systems
    • Related technical field
  • Minimum 8+ years of technical architecture experience with relevant hands-on engineering expertise.

Preferred Certifications

  • AWS Certification(s) (Preferred)
  • Microsoft Azure Certification(s) (Preferred)

Work Location / Schedule

  • Hybrid work model.
  • Consultant is expected to be onsite during the first week to become familiar with the team and environment.
  • After the initial onboarding period, the consultant should plan to work onsite approximately 3 days per month.
  • The remainder of the work schedule will be remote.
  • The onsite schedule will be coordinated with the hiring manager after the consultant's start date.
  • Vendors should ensure candidates are aware of and able to meet the onsite attendance requirements.
