POSITION SUMMARY: The Security/Building Support staff assists administrators by enforcing the
security of the building and personnel, monitors student behavior in school, hallways and parking lots and
assists with study halls, in-school suspension, and detention. Collaborates with other team members/staff
and works well with high school students. This position is also responsible for all attendance procedures
in the building by working directly and indirectly with students, staff, and parents while building and
maintaining relationships. This position also supports the staff and administration with all copying needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
- Informs administrators or School Resource Officer (SRO) of potential student issues on a regular
basis. Refers students to the appropriate staff members for mediation.
- Works closely with the (SRO) in resolving student conflicts, and/or issues that are criminal in
nature.
- Assists administrators by escorting students to appropriate offices, where searching lockers,
backpacks, cars or students may be performed by the Admin team or the SRO.
- Monitor students assigned to lunches, study halls, detention and/or in-school suspension.
- Monitors hallways, restrooms and locker rooms to deter theft, substance abuse, vandalism and
other student misconduct.
- Monitor students within the building and on school grounds, operate security camera systems and
two-way radio.
- Monitor parking lots during student arrivals and departures, identify any unauthorized vehicles
and/or people, and report car accidents to SRO or call 911.
- Issue written and verbal parking violations to students. Report violations to the bookkeeper to help
assist with collecting parking violations. Arrange for vehicle towing if necessary.
- Work with the bookkeeper to maintain an accurate database of all parking passes sold- name,
make/model of vehicles, license plate numbers, etc.
- Enter attendance on Infinite Campus, issue student passes, and dispatch messages as needed.
- Efficiently answer phone calls by responding to requests for information and accurately record
phone messages and direct calls to appropriate staff.
- Process parental notes/passes for students.
- Alerts Deans to possible issues with students or parents in a timely manner.
- Coordinates the process for attendance at State tournament events and enters school related
absences for co-curricular events and field trips.
- Assist teachers and SOS with daily input of attendance.
- Produce professional printing/copy services and special projects for entire staff and students.
Ensures input/output schedule for time sensitive material while enforcing copyright guidelines.
- Operates and maintains laminator machines, replaces film and oversees the daily maintenance.
- Cordially assists students, staff, and parents and successfully handles all questions and requests
made by them. This will include supervision responsibilities such as: pep rallies, lunch room,
school activities, etc.
- Strives to establish a sense of respect and personal responsibility among students, staff and
community by establishing a positive rapport. Collaborates with other security team members and
works well with high school students.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Specific training or job experience required before appointment):
- High School degree or equivalent
- PC & Mac computer knowledge.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and be proficient with the following programs: excel; word; and
power point.
- Ability to multitask in a fast paced, noisy environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication, proofreading and organizational skills.
- Strong Interpersonal skills
- Performs general clerical duties and recordkeeping tasks as requested by the Principal.
