Schedule/Hours: Wednesday through Saturday, 4:00pm to 11:30pm
This position is responsible for:
- Monitors the behavior and activities of clients participating in a Salvation Army housing program; guards the security the safety of Salivation Army facilities and building to ensure compliance with housing rules and policies and to protect the safety of staff and clients.
- Monitors client's behavior and activates to ensure compliance with program/facility rules guidelines; directs clients in appropriate behavior in order to stay in the program/facility.
- Provides security for the building and grounds being aware of activities happening in building dormitories; maintains awareness of activities occurring outside of the building/ensures that vehicles are not in fire lanes; ensures property and vehicles are not vandalized.
- Conducts random and routine bed checks to ensure compliance with house rules.
- Inspects baggage for contraband or inappropriate items which jeopardize the security and safety of clients and staff; may operate a metal detector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures that the kitchen staff locks rear door and that the walk-in cooler door is closed and lights are off.
- Ensures that any fire hazards or unsafe conditions are reported.
- Makes visual contact with residents on a regular scheduled basis; records violations of program regulation and completes required reports; notifies the Program Director in a timely manner.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Limited amount of physical effort required associated with waking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.)
- work is performed in a normal social service housing environment where there are little or no physical
- discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred but not required,
and
- six months experience working with the public with experience work in a security or social service environment preferred,
or
- any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- First Aid and C.P.R. Certification
