Salary: starting at $42,029, commensurate with experience

Overview:

As a part of the school support team, a Security Guard will work collaboratively to assist in the operational functions of their campus responsible for protecting property by patrolling designated areas, monitoring surveillance systems, enforcing security protocols, responding to alarms and incidents, and reporting any suspicious activity to maintain safety on the premises; essentially, deterring criminal activity and ensuring the security of a building or location by actively observing and responding to potential threats. A Security Guard will support the school culture team by promoting positive attitudes of student responsibilities and assists the professional staff with the safety of students and staff and the security of the facilities.The Security Guard will be stationed at the front door of the school and will manage entry of students, staff, families and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with School Leadership, Culture Team and other staff to ensure overall school safety
  • Exercise good judgment with regards to student behavior and disciplinary actions
  • Monitor entry and exit points of the building
  • Monitor student behavior and promote a safe school environment
  • Support & manage daily traffic coordination during arrival and dismissal
  • Assist in the reception office, as needed
  • Monitor hallways, bathrooms, lunchroom, parking lot, playgrounds and courtyards on a consistent daily basis
  • Monitor and observe school cameras and security systems
  • Assist with all safety and evacuation procedures
  • Assign and manage all 2-way radios
  • Accept and distribute daily mail and packages
  • Assist in coordinating/advising security for after school and weekend events

Requirements (minimum)
Education: High School Diploma or GED

Qualifications: Must have safety care training - CPR and First AID

Physical demands

  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing. Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 50% walking, and 45% standing.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 Ibs
