Company Overview:

The Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center is partnering with The Central Family Life Center to find qualified candidates for a Security Guard in Staten Island, NY. The Central Family Life Center is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening individuals and families through educational, workforce, youth, and community programs. The organization is committed to providing safe, supportive environments where children and families can thrive while making a positive impact throughout the community.

Position Overview:

The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for youth, families, staff, and visitors participating in the COMPASS Elementary Afterschool Program. This role monitors building access, supports student arrivals and dismissals, enforces site safety procedures, and responds appropriately to incidents or emergencies. The Security Guard works closely with program staff to help ensure a positive and secure environment for children and families.

 

This position is located in Staten Island, NY.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas during program hours.
  • Ensure only authorized individuals enter the program site.
  • Assist with student arrival and dismissal procedures.
  • Conduct routine security checks of the facility and grounds.
  • Monitor and report suspicious activities, safety hazards, or incidents.
  • Maintain incident logs and prepare written reports.
  • Support emergency response procedures, including fire drills and evacuations.
  • Collaborate with program staff to maintain a safe and positive environment.
Requirements:
  • At least 1 year of security experience in a school, community center, nonprofit, or youth-serving setting required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid New York State Security Guard License required. (8-Hour Pre-Assignment & 16-Hour On-the-Job Training completed.)
  • Strong communication, observation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Reliable, patient, and committed to youth safety and development.
  • Ability to patrol the facility, lift up to 25 pounds, and stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to respond quickly and remain calm and professional during emergencies.
  • Experience working with diverse populations preferred.
Pay Range: USD $25.00 - USD $30.00 /Hr.
