The Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center is partnering with ShopRite to find qualified candidates for a Security Guard in Staten Island, New York. Position Overview:

The Security Guard helps provide a safe and welcoming shopping environment while protecting company assets. The role monitors customer, vendor, and associate activity through direct observation and surveillance to help prevent theft and identify suspicious behavior. The Security Guard also responds to safety-related incidents, assists customers and associates, and works with law enforcement or emergency personnel when appropriate. This position maintains a visible and professional presence throughout the store while enforcing store policies and procedures.

 

This position is located in Staten Island, New York.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor store activity to help prevent theft and maintain a safe shopping environment.
• Observe customer, vendor, and associate activity through direct observation and surveillance.
• Deter shoplifting and investigate suspicious behavior.
• Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and safety-related incidents.
• Contact law enforcement or emergency personnel when appropriate.
• Assist customers and associates while maintaining a professional presence.
• Enforce store policies and procedures.
• Complete detailed incident reports and support loss prevention efforts.

Requirements:

• At least 6 months of experience as a Security Guard required.
• Unarmed Security Guard License required.
• Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
• Good communication skills, including the ability to write clear incident reports.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Basic conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
• Ability to stay alert for extended periods and maintain a visible presence.
• Physical fitness for patrolling, standing for extended periods, and responding to emergencies.
• Must have open availability to work any required shift at this 24/7 operational location.

Pay Range: USD $17.00 - USD $17.00 /Hr.
