Basic Job Functions:

Under the direct supervision of the Lead Safety Technician, and the Safety Technician Supervisor, a Security Officer's primary role is the protection of teammates and property. A Security Officer will always work in a safe manner and will always report any unsafe conditions immediately.

Essential position responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain a professional appearance while on duty, including personal grooming.
• Act in a professional manner when dealing with the general public and fellow teammates.
• Control plant entry and egress through proper clearances.
• Control traffic at vehicular, railroad and pedestrian gates.
• Record arrivals and departures of personnel as required.
• Maintain electronic/ paper logs and other records as required.
• Conduct vehicle searches at gates.
• Perform other duties as required by department supervision.
• Support the Safety Technicians in the field.
• Teammates will be required to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Graduate or G.E.D. equivalent
• Valid California Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

• Possession of an active Guard Card
• Previous experience or training in Security or Fire preferred
• E.M.T. Certification
