Overview:

Sentara Health is hiring an Armed Security Officer for Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, NC!

Status: Part-time, 24 hours/week, rotating shifts

Standard working hours: Rotating work schedule (off every other weekend, Sat to Sun). Need to be flexibility due to hospital hours 24/7, 365 days a year.

The Armed Security Officer provides a physically safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and employees at Sentara Hospitals and Free-standing Emergency Departments. All Sentara Armed Security Officers possess the ability to exercise discretion regarding the use of their weapons, only utilizing their weapon in times of extreme attack when ALL non-violent options have been exhausted.

To bolster safety and security for our patients and team members:

• Sentara has implemented a Fit for Duty assessment to ensure that our officers meet a minimum standard of fitness

• Officer must pass the Psychological Evaluation and Assessment conducted by the Sentara selected Service Provider

Education:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification/Licensure

• Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record

• Armed Officer Certificate within 90 days of hire

• Certified Healthcare Security Officer and Handle with Care Certification required within 90 days of hire

Experience:

• 1 year Security experience (Preferred)

• Former military, law enforcement, probation, or security officer experience (Preferred)

Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, located in Elizabeth City, NC, serves northeastern North Carolina with a caring team of approximately 650 employees and 150 medical providers. Our 182-bed facility features 25 specialties including emergency, maternity, orthopedics, medical, and surgical care in addition to our outpatient laboratory, imaging, and comprehensive breast services. The 135-acre campus, coming out of the ground at Halstead Boulevard Extended and Thunder Road, will be known as the Sentara Albemarle Regional Health Campus. It is projected to cost about $200 million, up from the original estimate of $158 million, due to sharp spikes in costs for building materials and medical equipment.
