Job Description
The Campus Safety Officer (3rd Shift) position here at Campbellsville University ensures the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors within the campus premises. This is a Full-time position that reports to the Director of Campus Safety and Security.
Responsibilities
• Patrol buildings and grounds. • Unlock doors and let students in residence halls after closing hours. • Examine doors, windows, and gates to determine they are secure. • Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering; carrying forbidden articles; and detain or expel persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts. • Observe for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked. • Sound alarm or call fire department in case of fire. • Notify local law enforcement agency in case of presence of unauthorized persons. • Permit authorized persons to enter property. • Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, for use of supervisory staff. • Be knowledgeable and informed on how to respond to current social justice issues if a situation arises on campus. • Be knowledgeable of the university's Diversity/Inclusion policy. • Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic on campus to maintain orderly flow. • Patrol special events on campus, including sports events, dances, and concerts. • Provide students and staff with security escort service as needed. • Prepare various reports as needed. • Write traffic parking tickets as needed. • Assist state and local law enforcement agencies. • Call in maintenance personnel as needed. • Perform duties as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications
High school diploma required. Some college hours preferred.
Knowledge of the following software is required:
• Omnigo Software • Star Rez Software • Milestone Camera Software
Must be able to pass the CJIS (Criminal Justice Information System) Training Test managed by the Kentucky State Police.
Must have a valid driver's license and pass Campbellsville University's Driver Certification.
Must have excellent moral character, courteous, and pleasant mannerisms, have patience, tact, sound judgment, cheerful disposition; integrity, initiative, be trustworthy and honest.
Must be neat in appearance and possess a high degree of professionalism.
Related experience is helpful.
Be willing to cooperate and work with all personnel.
