About the Role:

The Security Officer protects company personnel, customers and assets. This role acts as a first responder in case of illness or injury, and monitors assigned facilities to ensure a safe and secure environment. This position also aids in creating exceptional customer experience for our dispensary patients. How you'll make a difference:

  • Monitors and controls access at all building entrances.
  • Monitors alarm systems, video cameras, and detection equipment.
  • Patrols and assigned location looking for signs of crime or disorder and investigates issues and/or disturbances
  • Writes incident reports relating to criminal, medical, or nuisance activity.
  • Ensures all incidents are recorded in security log • Investigates, documents, and reports on all suspicious incidents.
  • Conducts building patrols and perimeter walks at assigned dispensaries and cultivation facilities
  • Watches for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards and mitigate risk where possible by removing hazards
  • Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, trespassing, straw purchases or other violations
  • Permits authorized personnel to enter property and monitors individuals entering and exiting the building to ensure all employees, visitors and customers are complying with facility access regulations
  • Observes departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure that removal of property is conducted within appropriate and authorized requirements
  • Aid customers, employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Sounds alarms or contacts police or fire department in case of fire, robbery, or the presence of unauthorized persons
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Complete additional tasks assigned to meet the needs of the business

Skills to be Successful:

Education and Experience

  • Must be 21 years of age or older • High School Diploma or equivalent - required
  • Minimally 5 years of experience working in security or related field - preferred
  • Previous military or LEO experience - preferred • Must possess active SORA-security officer license (NJ)
  • Must possess a valid state issued Driver's License • Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED use - preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices Computers and Technology
  • Must possess previous experience with surveillance monitoring systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook • Proficiency with inventory systems and office equipment

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be requested to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

This position may require working indoors or outdoors, depending on the facility and climate. Employees must be able to stand for up to eight hours, walk patrols, and monitor security inside the dispensary. Tasks include frequent use of eyesight for video surveillance, ID verification, and security system entry, as well as eye/hand coordination for inspecting credentials. The role may involve moving up to 50 lbs over short distances to assist with lobby setup and line control. In manufacturing areas, employees may be required to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods, perform repetitive hand movements, and work in a humid, pollinated environment.
