Location: 3400 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA
The Security Officer I is responsible for safeguarding the hospital's patients, visitors, staff, students, property, and assets. This role performs security duties at fixed posts and through campus and hospital patrols, monitoring for safety concerns, unauthorized activity, security violations, and fire hazards. Following completion of ACT 235 certification and de-escalation training, officers respond to suspicious activity, assist with volatile situations, and support a safe and secure healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol hospital buildings, grounds, and assigned areas to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Participate in daily shift briefings to stay informed of security incidents, ongoing concerns, and operational updates.
- Maintain accurate and detailed daily activity logs and security documentation.
- Respond to emergency situations, suspicious activity, and requests for security assistance.
- De-escalate disruptive situations and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and staff.
- Investigate and document security incidents, property concerns, and unauthorized activity.
- Respond to facility alarms, emergency codes, and other security-related events.
- Conduct routine security audits and inspections of hospital property and grounds.
- Monitor hospital entrances, parking facilities, and traffic flow for safety and security concerns.
- Assist hospital staff with disruptive or unruly patients and visitors.
- Recommend improvements to security operations and participate in crime prevention initiatives.
- For ACT 235-certified officers, assess situations requiring physical intervention and apply restraints when appropriate.
Required Credentials
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to obtain ACT 235 Certification within six months of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six months of hire
- CPI or Healthcare Workplace Violence (HWC) De-escalation Training within six months of hire
