Position
Summary
The Security
Officer Lead provides direct oversight of all daily security operations at
Redemption Church. This position ensures the safety and protection of staff,
congregants, volunteers, guests, and property through consistent patrols,
active monitoring, and enforcement of church security policies. The Officer
Lead maintains professionalism and discretion while serving as the on-duty
point of contact for staff, volunteers, vendors, and law enforcement when
necessary.
This position
requires strict adherence to federal, state, and local security regulations, as
well as Redemption Church’s policies, procedures, and conduct standards. The
Officer Lead is responsible for promoting a safe, welcoming environment that
reflects the church’s culture of hospitality while ensuring compliance with all
legal and organizational safety protocols.
Essential Duties
and Responsibilities
Daily Operations
·
Conduct a complete walk-through of all campus facilities at the beginning
of each shift to verify safety, security, and operational readiness.
·
Perform regular door checks across all buildings (Main Sanctuary,
Children’s Building, Youth Building) to ensure proper security and
functionality.
·
Identify, respond to, and report any hazards, safety issues, or
suspicious activity in accordance with state law and internal policy.
·
Inspect facilities for damages or maintenance needs (lighting, locks,
doors, windows, plumbing, etc.) and report them using the Asana Facilities
Request Form.
·
Maintain high visibility during patrols to deter unsafe or unauthorized
activity while balancing thorough inspection coverage.
·
Remain in full, approved uniform at all times; if armed, maintain current
permits and ensure all actions comply with local, state, and federal firearm
laws.
·
Monitor and respond to all alarms, access control alerts, and CCTV
activity, escalating issues as needed.
·
Provide direction and supervision to the Watchman Volunteer Team during
assigned service times.
·
Engage courteously with congregants, volunteers, and staff, upholding
Redemption’s values of safety, respect, and hospitality.
End-of-Shift
Responsibilities
·
Conduct a full lockdown of campus buildings, confirming all doors and
access points are secured.
·
Document daily patrols, incidents, and end-of-shift findings in written
reports.
·
Communicate unresolved concerns or security issues to the next shift
officer or Risk Management Director directly.
Patrol Vehicle,
Equipment & Weapon Maintenance
·
Maintain the patrol vehicle in safe, operational condition—fueling,
cleaning, and servicing as required.
·
Reconcile receipts and mileage logs through Ramp and submit maintenance
requests via Asana.
·
Clean and service assigned duty weapons in full compliance with
Redemption’s safety standards and all applicable firearm regulations.
·
Secure all weapons, radios, keys, and church-issued equipment when not in
use.
Vendor &
Uniform Oversight
·
Serve as primary point of contact for uniform and laundry vendor
(Unifirst).
·
Track, distribute, and maintain inventory of uniforms and ensure all
items meet appearance and safety requirements.
Administrative
Duties & Compliance
·
Assist with secure bank deposits on scheduled days, following
Redemption’s transport and handling protocols.
·
Conduct volunteer and staff background checks using Checkr.com and DOJ
Live Scan, maintaining full confidentiality per state and federal privacy laws.
·
Ensure all security activities, training, and enforcement actions comply
with the California Penal Code, Department of Consumer Affairs (BSIS)
regulations, and federal workplace safety standards (OSHA) as applicable.
·
Accurately complete incident reports, patrol logs, hazard reports, and
reconciliation records in a timely manner.
·
Participate in policy and safety audits to ensure compliance with
Redemption’s internal risk management procedures.
Leadership &
Collaboration
·
Serve as shift lead, providing direction, mentorship, and accountability
to other officers and Watchman volunteers.
·
Act as first responder during emergencies—medical, fire, or
security-related—following Redemption’s Emergency Response Plan and notifying
appropriate authorities as needed.
·
Support training and skill development for Watchman volunteers (radio
etiquette, emergency drills, scenario training) only with prior approval from
leadership.
·
Collaborate with church staff, facilities teams, and ministry leads to
ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to safety.
