Location Dickinson, ND Address 33 9th St W Dickinson, ND 58601 USA Shift 8 Hours - Day Shifts Job Schedule Full time Weekly Hours 40.00 Salary Range $19.00 - $29.00 Department Details Work Monday - Friday 9am to 5:30pm. This job offers a dynamic and varied work schedule that combines maintenance and security tasks providing a fulfilling work experience. The position uniquely combines security responsibilities with light maintenance tasks allowing those employed in this role a variety of duties. A typical day in this role involves responding to security requests. When you are not working in this capacity you will be working on maintenance tasks assigned to you. Must be able to switch between tasks throughout the shift.
Job Summary Enforces policies and procedures with all patients, residents, visitors, and staff. Patrols and secures facility buildings and grounds as assigned. Monitors conduct of visitors on premises and confronts unauthorized persons for questioning. Reports safety, fire hazards, or security violations. Responds to all requests for assistance from employees, patients, residents, and visitors. Assists with any and all situations, i.e., problem-solving with positive outcomes. May escort personnel to and from parking areas as requested. Maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities. Ability to work with all age groups. Must be able to prioritize calls for service in order of urgency based on safety needs. Security officers are expected to work in highly stressful situations in which they are to de-escalate the situation as soon as possible. All security officers are required to maintain awareness of local laws which affect the way individuals conduct themselves on private property. The necessary skills that are required involve the following: communicate effectively with all customers, ability to write professional reports, demonstrate the physical ability to perform basic security officer functions as trained. This position may have access to areas where medications are stored in order to perform their specific job-related functions.
Security Duties Patrolling & Surveillance Conduct regular patrols of buildings and grounds, monitor security cameras, check doors and windows for security, and ensure exterior lighting and access routes like emergency entrances are clear.
Access Control Verify identities, challenge unauthorized persons, control access to sensitive areas, and manage parking enforcement.
Emergency Response Respond to alarms, assist with fire suppression, manage patient restraint situations, and coordinate with law enforcement.
Visitor Assistance Guide visitors, answer questions, and provide escorts to/from parking lots.
Maintenance Duties Work Orders Complete daily work orders performing basic repairs, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and preventative maintenance.
Facility Checks Inspect life-safety systems, fire alarms, water temperatures, and report hazards.
Groundskeeping Assist with snow removal, landscaping, and general upkeep of hospital properties.
Reporting & Compliance Document all activities, incidents, and maintenance issues in detailed reports, Shift Patrol Logs, Incident Reports, and Work Orders. Help maintain compliance with federal, state, and local safety and security codes.
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. College or vocational education is preferred. Prior experience in healthcare security, contract security, and/or law enforcement is highly preferred. Requires a current valid drivers license with Sanford insurability dependent upon region. Basic certification by International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety preferred within one year of hire.
