WARTBURG COLLEGE Title of Position: Security Officer (Part-Time)

Function of Position: The Security Officer is responsible for patrolling the campus, responding to incidents, and enforcing College parking regulations. The Security Officer is accountable to the Director of Campus Security & Safety.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Patrol & Visibility • Patrol campus by foot and vehicle, remain visible, and address areas of concern.

Access Control • Lock and unlock buildings and secure facilities.

Safety & Emergency Response • Provide basic first aid and CPR/ED transport non-emergency cases; request ambulance for emergencies.

Systems & Fire Safety • Inspect mechanical fire and notification systems; respond to alarms, assess danger, reset systems, and authorize re-entry.

Incident Management • Respond to incidents, write reports, conduct limited investigations, protect crime scenes, and notify authorities.

Law Enforcement Support • Call police when needed, assist public agencies, take statements, evidence, and photos, and confiscate prohibited items.

Event & Campus Order • Maintain order at events, enforce residence hall and student conduct policies when staff are absent.

Parking & Transportation • Enforce parking regulations, issue tickets, arrange towing, manage parking registration and visitor passes, conduct driving tests, transport valuables and funds.

General Assistance • Assist visitors, provide directions, manage lost and found, support college employees, and assist residence hall staff.

Health & Safety Compliance • Handle blood-borne pathogen situations and perform clean-up.

Other Duties as assigned

Supervision: Definite objectives are set up for the employee by the supervisor requiring the use of a wide range of procedures. The employee plans and arranges his/her own work and refers only unusual cases to the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications: Requires knowledge equivalent to a high school education with one year of effective experience. Must possess a valid drivers license and have no criminal record. Associates degree preferred.
