Position: Security Officer Specialist

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Must possess a current and valid driver's license
• Must be able to carry and use a firearm and maintain required firearm proficiency throughout employment
• Must be at least 21 years old when applying and under age 37 when receiving a conditional offer of employment, unless eligible for an applicable exception based on prior Federal Civilian Law Enforcement service covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement
• Applicants with veteran's preference must receive a conditional offer before reaching age 40 to remain eligible in the hiring process
• Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance throughout the career
• Must have uncorrected binocular visual acuity of at least 20/100 and corrected vision of 20/20 or better in each eye
• Hearing loss, as determined by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear at the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz frequencies
• Must complete a drug screening before appointment and be subject to random drug testing while employed
• Must successfully complete 13 weeks of basic training in Glynco, GA, followed by 18 weeks of specialized training in Laurel, MD
• Must sign a mobility agreement acknowledging a willingness to accept assignments throughout the United States and overseas
• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must certify that they have registered with the Selective Service System or qualify for an exemption
