Signal of New England is seeking a professional, reliable, and customer-focused FootPatrol Security Officer to provide security services at a museum in Watertown, MA. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy interacting with the public while maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment. Officers are responsible for protecting museum collections, staff, visitors, and property from any criminal activity or trespassing through proactive patrols, exceptional observation skills, and professional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular foot patrols throughout museum galleries, exhibition spaces, stairwells, and public areas.
Maintain a visible security presence to deter theft, vandalism, and unauthorized activity.
Monitor artwork, exhibits, and museum property for safety, security, or maintenance concerns.
Enforce museum policies, including restricted access and exhibit protection ("no-touch" policies), with professionalism and tact.
Respond appropriately to emergencies, disturbances, and other security-related situations.
Secure entrances, exits, staff-only areas, and other restricted locations.
Accurately document daily activities, incidents, and observations in detailed written reports.
Communicate effectively with museum staff, management, and emergency responders as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Previous experience in security, law enforcement, military, or customer-facing public safety roles.
Prior museum, gallery, or cultural institution security experience is a plus
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods and climb stairs regularly
Strong observational, communication, and de-escalation skills
Ability to remain calm, professional, and courteous in high-traffic public environments
Professional and confident when enforcing museum policies and "no-touch" rules
Experience in hospitality, public-facing, or high-value asset security
