Position Purpose:
The Part-Time Security Officer will support campus safety by maintaining a visible security presence, monitoring campus grounds and facilities, and providing responsive coverage during assigned evening hours. This role is intended to help promote a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, employees, and visitors. The position also supports consistent documentation and communication regarding security activities and incidents.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain a visible security presence across campus.
- Monitor campus grounds and facilities for safety concerns, suspicious activity, or other issues requiring attention.
- Ensure buildings are locked and secure.
- Document security-related activity, coverage, and incidents in a logbook in a timely and accurate manner.
- Respond appropriately to security-related issues.
- Contact campus leadership, emergency personnel, or local law enforcement when needed, following the response plan being developed for this process.
- Support campus safety efforts through professional communication, sound judgment, and reliable follow-through.

Working Conditions:
This position requires walking campus grounds, working outdoors and indoors as needed, and remaining alert during evening hours. The employee must be able to respond promptly to concerns, follow established procedures, and communicate effectively with appropriate campus contacts. Training might be requested. Because the role includes after-hours coverage, reliability and punctuality are essential.
