Security Specialist II/III (INFOSEC)

The pay for this position ranges between $90-125k with some flexibility depending on Location, experience and overall qualifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Information Security Operations — Demonstrates hands-on experience supporting DoD or IC information security programs, ensuring protection of personnel, facilities, classified systems, and sensitive data across various specialized enclaves.
• Classification Management — Executes Security Classification Guide (SCG) requirements, verifies proper marking/handling of classified and CUI materials, and conducts routine audits of technical documents, media, and software builds to maintain data integrity.
• Cross-Domain Transfer Oversight — Supervises data movement between networks of differing classification levels, ensuring strict compliance with Navy cross-domain procedures and preventing classified spillage.
• Declassification and Destruction — Manages workflows for declassification reviews, secure destruction of end‑of‑life media, and accountability of classified hardware in accordance with Navy and DoD policy.
• RMF Compliance Support — Maintains cybersecurity documentation and ATO artifacts within eMASS, supports system security plan updates, and ensures systems remain aligned with DoDI 8510.01 and NIST SP 800‑53 requirements.
• STIG & POA&M Execution — Applies DISA STIGs to servers, workstations, and applications; develops and tracks POA&Ms to remediate vulnerabilities and maintain compliance readiness for Code 105 systems.
• Incident Response Support — Investigates anomalous system behavior, escalates potential security incidents to the ISSM, and assists in documenting events and corrective actions.
• Physical & Access Control Integration — Coordinates with physical security teams on SCIF requirements, access control logs, alarm system functionality, and facility security measures that intersect with INFOSEC operations.
• Team Mentorship — Provides guidance to junior security personnel, reinforcing adherence to Navy security protocols, improving technical competency, and fostering a collaborative, compliance‑focused team environment.

Requirements

• Four (4) or more years of experience primarily in Information Security (INFOSEC) and other general areas of security in the DoD or IC. If a proposed individual does not meet both the desired education and experience qualifications, eight (8) years of professional technical activities related to security would be considered equivalent.
• Experience with Classification Management, Classification Guides and Document Control.
• Experience with RMF.
• A minimum Secret security clearance or higher with the ability to obtain a Top Secret w/ SCI is required to be considered for this position.
  

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
