Duties

Help

  1. Directs, obtains, maintains, and provides for proper usage of Security Forces equipment in order to meet unit objectives. Tracks operational and performance data on tools and equipment to provide feedback for appropriate activity. Directs repair of tools and equipment. Ensures timely calibration of equipment. Maintains liaison with interservice, Air Force, MAJCOM, and other agencies to ensure proper acquisition, use, and maintenance of major equipment items required to support the unit. Plans for the use of physical security equipment, ensuring the most efficient and economical combination of manpower and equipment. Implements DoD, USAF, and MAJCOM policies and plans. Coordinates, and monitors short and long term equipment requirements. Ensures personnel are properly trained on various types of security equipment in regards to operation, care, and maintenance. Reviews and analyzes equipment utilization and failure rates, repair and replacement costs, and technological advancements.

  2. Manages SF equipment accounts. Requisitions all materials, equipment, and services necessary to support the function, to include self-help projects. Requires a high level of expertise and knowledge of specialized equipment and determines suitable substitutes. Monitors source allowances, validates requests, and processes documentation to procure equipment. Maintains and utilizes current federal supply catalogs, stock lists, GSA catalogs, cross-reference lists, commercial manufacturers parts lists, and catalogs. Performs research to identify items by stock number or stock class, part number, item specifications, quantity, availability, recommends source of procurement, unit price, total cost, and sole source justification, as applicable. Responsible for CA/CRL, Open Verification Library (OVL) local stock processes. Monitors, controls, and manages computerized status files concerning tools, equipment, and materials on order. Performs quality assurance by reviewing management data to ensure materials and tools are returned in a timely manner.

  3. Performs trend analysis of past utilization of supplies and other materials to identify and determine future requirements. Records expenditures and maintains current on-hand balances. Provides financial accounting data to the Resource Advisor. Provides unfunded requirements and FINPLAN recommendations. Acts as the alternate Resource Advisor.

  4. Manages and directs programs in support of SF deployment requirements. As the Unit Deployment Manager, serves as the primary point of contact between deployment work centers for all deployable assets. Establishes a mobility bag management program. Ensures all shelf life items are current. Serves as a representative at conferences, working groups, and meetings dealing with deployment, equipment, and reviews. Compiles and reports SF Status of Resources and Training System (SORTS), Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS) and Air Expeditionary Forces Reporting Tool (ART) data. Responsible for providing SORTS, ART and DRRS briefings to wing and squadron commanders. This position is the primary SORTs, DRRS, and ART monitor.

  5. Coordinates movement of equipment and material by all modes of transportation. Manages the Material Safety data Sheet master file. Ensures hazardous and sensitive materials or equipment are properly stored, labeled, and proper disposal procedures are followed. Ensures safety equipment is on hand and serviceable.

  6. Operates and manages SF storage facilities, to include geographically separated units and training sites. Reports material status of work order and job order requirements. Develops and manages a program to ensure material and tool discipline is maintained in all SF cost centers. Searches files to determine stock replenishment levels for bench and shop stock for centrally controlled supplies and other materials within funding limitations. Provides advice to supervisor on significant issues and problems related to work accomplishment.

  7. Performs vehicle control responsibilities. Determines vehicle requirements, monitors vehicle status and training programs and reports and investigates incidents. Attends vehicle authorization and utilization board meeting. Manages and coordinates the vehicle maintenance and assignment program. Supervises the assignment and care of assigned and leased vehicles. Oversees the development of justification for new vehicles and the retention of existing ones.

  8. Provides munitions forecasting data for SF requirements in coordination with the NCOIC of Combat Arms.

  9. Performs and enforces the full range of SF duties within the military installation. Apprehends and detains violators of laws, rules, and regulations and turns them over to the Federal, civil police, or other law enforcement officers for arrest and posting of collateral.

  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military grade in the Alabama Air National Guard. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 year equivalent to at least GS-7.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

    • Knowledge of logistics management principles, organizational theory, and techniques of analysis and evaluation. Knowledge of standardized logistics practices and procedures to conduct studies to identify, analyze, and recommend solutions to problems in structure, staffing, procedures, work processes or workload distribution.
    • Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of program related issues and problems.
    • Knowledge of supply regulations and directives sufficient to establish organizational logistics management policies and procedures.
    • Knowledge of required logistical actions sufficient to develop and maintain training support and deployment plans.
    • Knowledge of local supply and SF requirements to ensure support for materials.
    • Knowledge of the operational aspects of the organization sufficient to advise senior leadership of actions necessary to sustain or improve the logistical posture of the organization.
    • Knowledge of logistics accountability sufficient to monitor, review, and inspect logistical requests, receipts, and pending transactions in accordance with command supply and maintenance discipline programs.
    • Knowledge of one or more automated supply databases to retrieve, review, and analyze logistical data on an ad-hoc basis or through recurring and specialized reports.
    • Knowledge of logistical readiness factors and the effects that equipment availability, serviceability, and compatibility have on the overall logistics readiness of the organization.
    • Knowledge of budgetary procedures and limitations sufficient to advise senior leadership on prioritization, develop an obligation and execution plan, and to monitor requisitions and ensure availability of funds in accordance with command priorities.
    • Knowledge of logistical requirements sufficient to plan support for organizational training, deployment, physical security, and strength maintenance activities and requirements.
    • Knowledge of munitions forecasting in accordance with major command guidance.
    • Knowledge of SF tools and special deployable assets.
    • Knowledge of SF SORTS reporting requirements. Certified to train personnel in the operation of special purpose vehicles.
    • Knowledge of SF procedures and operating methods to perform the full range of SF activities independently to include protection level resources, installation entry control, armed response and dispatch.
    • Knowledge of communication devices and etiquette.
    • Knowledge of various aircraft loading requirements.
    • Knowledge and understanding of Air force, National Guard, and gaining command organizational structure, missions and responsibilities.

Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

masters or equivalent graduate degree

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related
