Summary

This position is responsible for administration, planning, installation, modifications, and operation of electronic building security systems and will manage the Local Area Network (LAN) for the G.W. Hill Correctional Facility.

Examples of Duties (Illustrative Only)

• Set up Clearances for Security access doors
• Prepare RFP's for security system additions or modifications
• Troubleshoot Security software and hardware issues and work with vendors to obtain resolution as soon as possible
• Maintain CCTV system and prepare copies of video upon request.
• Prepare and generate person or door access reports upon request
• On-Call 24 hours a day - 7 days a week
• Provides access control
• Provides software training at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels
• Establishes and maintains help desk to support users with software and/or hardware problems.
• Develops and maintains a software/hardware problem history for purposes of troubleshooting and as a maintenance record.
• Establishes and maintains a comprehensive hardware and software inventory, to include upkeep of all warranty information, software licensing requirements and agreements, and documentation.
• Establish/disable user accounts with proper documented approvals by direct supervisor-email or hard copy
• Generates non-standard reports and summaries requiring MIS expertise as requested by facility administrator
• Backs up LAN and restores it when required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

• Minimum one year experience in system support.
• Bachelor of Science degree in either Computer Science or comparable industry certifications highly desirable. Combination of schooling and work experience will be considered

• 2000 Pro
• Any other applicable qualifications required by the state where the position functions.

Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

• Clean Certified
• Must pass background check

Working Environment

Standard jail facility and office environment. Incumbent performs duties in a jail facility and involve sitting and walking at will, walking/standing and/or sitting for long periods, lifting/ carrying heavy objects, crouching/kneeling, bending at the waist, close and far vision, reaching, handling/grasping/fingering objects, hearing sounds/communication. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the hazards associated with jail operations, such as potentially violent individuals and communicable disease. No prolonged extreme physical demands are associated with normal duties or assignments.
