The Role: Security Systems Technician

As a Security Systems Technician, you will support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic security systems across Switch facilities. This role exists to ensure security infrastructure remains operational, reliable, and aligned with facility requirements.

You will work with access control systems, CCTV platforms, alarm systems, and related security technologies while supporting ongoing operational and installation needs.

This position may require the candidate/employee to undergo additional background checks and drug screenings prior to and during the course of employment in support of customer-specific deployments.

What You’ll Do

  • Install and configure security systems and related components

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of security equipment

  • Support programming and modification of access control, CCTV, and alarm systems

  • Install and support IP-based cameras, DVRs, servers, and intercom systems

  • Perform pre-wire work for alarm, CCTV, and access control systems

  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and installation manuals

  • Maintain electronic testing equipment and tools

  • Document work performed and support operational records as needed

  • Work with internal teams, customers, and subcontractors to support installation activities

  • Follow established safety procedures and operational standards

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Basic understanding of electronic security systems and installation practices

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics

  • Familiarity with hand tools and electronic testing equipment

  • Basic computer and troubleshooting skills

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred:

  • Previous experience installing or supporting security systems

  • Experience with biometric systems, access control platforms, or video management systems

  • Experience working with IP-based devices and physical networks

  • Familiarity with CCTV, alarm systems, and access control wiring
