Primary Purpose:
The security systems technician will provide tier one support and maintenance for the district's physical security-related systems and hardware.

Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma
- Two years of college or technical school training; Associate's degree or higher preferred
- Minimum experience: 5 years in information technology or other technical-related field
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Project management experience
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding work information;
- Perform multiple assignments in fast-paced environment with aptitude for successful completion of tasks;
- Work under pressure in crisis situations and to take reasonable and/or necessary actions pursuant to the district emergency operations plan
- Create and maintain a professional relationship with students, parents, staff, and administrators at all times;
- Work with a minimum amount of supervision;
- Ability to serve as role model for all district employees by exhibiting behavior that is ethical, courteous, and responsible;
- Ability to perform multi-tasking functions efficiently and effectively;
- Perform a variety of skills such as computer data entry, word processing, Power Point and Excel;
- Proficiency in general office procedures including communicating via telephone, with administrative staff members, police, and security officers;
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Install, maintain, test, repair, diagnose, troubleshoot, configure, program and commission all security related hardware, peripherals, servers, software, etc. for access control, video management, visitor management, and other physical security and technology systems.
- Track repairs on all security related equipment through a work order system.
- Respond to work orders in a timely manner.
- Assist with overseeing contractor's work hired by the department or as part of general construction and renovations. Work closely with the construction department to verify that security related items are properly installed and operational prior to informing the department director or supervisor the work is complete.
- Initiate, plan, manage and complete both small and large projects. Coordinate with other departments.
- Communicate professionally in writing and verbally and provide regular updates to clients and the department.
- Provide exceptional support to all clients.
- Maintain inventory and records related to all equipment and systems.
- Mount and fasten video cameras and attach wiring to connect components.
- Position equipment using hand tools and power tools.
- Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, or cavity walls to reach fixture outlets, positioning and terminating cables, wires, or strapping.
- Lay cables to connect equipment.
- Prepare documents and spreadsheets to indicate which equipment has been installed and the locations.
- Use personal vehicle to travel to district campuses and facilities and transport materials to work site.
- Maintain confidentiality of student, staff and system information. Maintain confidentiality of all systems, processes, and department information.
- Participate in meetings and trainings.

Equipment Used:
Personal computers, laptops, mobile computing devices, telecommunications equipment, networking equipment, wireless access devices, audio/video equipment and other peripheral devices, hand tools, ladders, test equipment, motor vehicles and other equipment customary to security/facilities management.

Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; have dexterity of hands and fingers; able to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch; able to lift, carry, push and/or pull items of up to 50lbs
