Job Position: Security Technician
Location: College Station, TX
Pay Rate: $20.00-$28.00/hr
Description: TradeSTAR is currently hiring experienced Security Technicians for commercial low voltage and integrated security projects throughout the College Station area. These positions support commercial construction, access control deployments, CCTV installations, intrusion systems, and integrated building technologies for established low voltage contractors.
We are seeking highly technical professionals with experience in security system installation, programming, troubleshooting, and integration. Opportunities are available for Helpers, Level I III Technicians, Lead Technicians, Foremen, and Project-Level specialists.
Technical Responsibilities
Install, terminate, and service commercial security and low voltage systems
Pull and route low voltage cabling through conduit, cable tray, J-hooks, and structured pathways
Install and configure access control systems including card readers, mag locks, electric strikes, request-to-exit devices, door contacts, and power supplies
Install, focus, and troubleshoot IP and analog CCTV camera systems
Configure NVRs, DVRs, video management systems, and network-connected surveillance equipment
Install and program intrusion detection systems, motion detectors, glass break sensors, panic devices, and alarm panels
Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and device layouts
Terminate low voltage cabling including CAT6, CAT6A, composite cable, and shielded cable
Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, voltage drops, relay failures, and communication faults
Configure IP addresses, network switches, PoE devices, and VLAN-supported security hardware
Perform system startup, testing, commissioning, and end-user training
Conduct point-to-point testing and verify system functionality according to project specifications
Label and document cabling and devices in compliance with project standards
Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, IT personnel, and other trades on-site

Preferred Qualifications
Commercial security system installation experience
Experience with IP-based security systems and network infrastructure
Knowledge of access control hardware and door hardware integration
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and low voltage schematics
Understanding of structured cabling and low voltage installation standards
Experience with relay logic, PoE systems, and network troubleshooting
Low voltage or security licensing is a plus
OSHA certification is a plus
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities
Ability to work independently or lead crews on active commercial projects
