Lead a High-Throughput Seed Warehouse
Location: Bloomington, IL • Schedule: Full-time, first shift
Total compensation estimate: $50,000–$60,000/year, comprised of $19–$21/hour base pay, overtime during peak season, 15–17% profit sharing (paid in December and August), and full benefits.
Your Day in This Role
When the dock doors roll up each morning, you set the pace. You assign work, hop on a forklift (about 75% of your day), and keep product moving with accuracy and urgency. You own the Bloomington warehouse inventory—seed, packaging, and supporting materials—and you make sure every shipment is staged, counted, and out the door on time.
What You’ll Do
Team Leadership
- Direct daily activities: assign tasks, set priorities, and keep the team on track.
- Train new forklift operators using our certification program.
- Model safety, quality, and work ethic in every shift.
Shipping, Receiving, and Customer Coordination
- Build a daily loading plan so orders are ready when customers expect them.
- Perform accurate inventory counts for every inbound and outbound load.
- Notify customers directly when their seed ships.
- Post and release "Hold, Do Not Ship" tags on inventory with QA support.
Inventory Control and Systems
- Maintain precise row location data in the warehouse management system.
- Track all materials and supplies to prevent loss, miscounts, or mis-ships.
Safety and Quality
- Enforce company safety programs and proactively surface risks.
- Execute our Quality Management System on the warehouse floor.
- Recommend improvements to layout, process, and safety.
Equipment and Facility Care
- Run the forklift preventive maintenance program to keep equipment reliable.
- Handle basic upkeep: weatherproofing, monitoring climate control and fire suppression systems, and coordinating vendors for specialized work.
- Implement and monitor a pest control program within the warehouse.
Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean, orderly, audit-ready facility at all times.
What You’ll Bring
- Hands-on forklift experience (daily use), with frequent on/off equipment comfort.
- Ability to repeatedly lift 30–70 lb bags.
- Natural leadership—people look to you for direction.
- Meticulous attention to inventory accuracy and paperwork.
- Reliable attendance and a stable, long-tenured work history.
- Basic computer proficiency (daily use of our inventory system).
- Comfort with routine facility maintenance and knowing when to bring in a specialist.
Pay, Benefits, and Perks
- Profit sharing that consistently pays out—adds roughly $3–$4/hour on top of base, twice a year.
- Health, dental, disability, 401(k), $150 clothing allowance, and paid team-building days.
- Clear growth path—promote-from-within culture and a Management Trainee program that develops future location managers.
- Family-owned feel with a global footprint—leaders know your name, decisions are fast, and you’re treated like a partner.
The Work Rhythm
September–March: conditioning and shipping season—high volume, real urgency, and available overtime. March–September: a steadier pace focused on organization, maintenance, and preparation for the next season. If you enjoy cyclical work, you’ll thrive here.
Environment
Expect to be on your feet in a dusty setting with seed and pollen exposure. PPE is provided, but those with strong dust or pollen sensitivities may not be a fit.
