What you'll do:
SUMMARY:
The Segment Sales Engineer oversees the design, development, and customization of walk-in vans, truck bodies, and specialty vehicles within a specified business industry (e.g Linen, Parcel, Food & Beverage). This role ensures that products meet client requirements, regulatory standards, and manufacturing feasibility while driving innovation, quality, and cost efficiency. This role serves sales by identifying client needs and providing technical advice of products.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee product design, prototyping, testing, and production launch
Collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to deliver customized solutions, with a goal to meet or exceed expectations
Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and industry standards
Drive continuous improvement in design processes, cost control, and product performance
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with external customers, with the goal of providing technical and business solutions for all stakeholders, while ensuring satisfaction through all stages of the process
Serve as a technical advisor and product advocate for the regional sales team
Resolves challenges and issues in a timely manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and strategic objectives, while referring more complex issues to manager
Perform competitive benchmarking of products and manufacturers to deliver actionable insights that inform business unit strategy and planning
Prepare and deliver formal technical presentations to the sales department, external customers (new and existing), or other stakeholders, as appropriate
Support sales and marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences, and training events, and by traveling to key customers and OEMs to support product launches, integration, and training.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate records including quotes, project requests, contacts, and correspondence
Support the Systems Engineering team by developing and implementing effective tools and processes
Other duties as assigned
What you need to be successful:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 2 years' experience working in an engineering or technical field
Self-motivated, with ability to work independently, with minimal direct supervision
Comfortable with both analytical and "hands-on" application of technical skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Working knowledge of SolidWorks 3-D CAD with ability to review and modify assemblies, models, and detail drawings
Working knowledge of ERP systems, with the ability to pull data as needed for analysis (e.g. costs, usage, supplier, volumes)
Able to effectively prioritize and execute multiple concurrent assignments
Versatile, flexible, and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities
Willing and able to travel, domestically and internationally
