Self-Contained Special Education Teacher K-3

Position: Self-Contained Special Education Teacher K–3
Reports To: Building Principal and/or Special Education Director
Grade Levels: Can in include Kindergarten–3rd Grade

Position Summary

The K–3 Self-Contained Special Education Teacher provides specialized instruction and educational
programming for students with disabilities in a self-contained setting. The teacher is responsible for developing
and implementing individualized, developmentally appropriate instruction based on each student's Individualized
Education Program (IEP), present levels of performance, academic and functional needs, and individual strengths.
The teacher creates a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes academic
growth, communication, independence, social-emotional development, positive behavior, and participation in the
school community. The teacher works collaboratively with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related
service providers, administrators, families, and other members of the student's educational team.

What You’ll Do

? Provide specially designed instruction based on individual student IEPs and needs.
? Use data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction.
? Create a structured, positive, and supportive classroom environment.
? Implement IEP accommodations, modifications, goals, and behavior supports.
? Promote student independence, communication, self-regulation, and social development.
? Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, administrators,
and families.
? Provide guidance and direction to classroom paraprofessionals.
? Maintain accurate IEP documentation, progress monitoring, and other required records.
