The Ascent Academies' Trust was founded in 2012 and is a family of six special academies in the North East and North Yorkshire, over four different local authorities. We are a collaborative group of academies who work closely with one another in order to achieve the best outcomes for our young people. As a result, our academies have improved year on year and all academies are currently at least Good from an Ofsted rating, with some individual areas rated Outstanding.

We have sites based in Sunderland, Billingham, Easington, Peterlee, Ripon, Bedale and Harrogate (Starbeck) with vacancies arising at different times of the year and as a result of this we offer candidates the opportunity to join our 'Active Talent Pool'. If you meet our high standards at the assessment stage but you wish to wait for a role in a specific academy, we will retain your details for three months. This ensures that as soon as a position opens in your preferred location, we can move quickly to welcome you onboard to our family of schools.

The principal responsibility of these posts is to teach a variety of subjects to students with a range of abilities. Candidates should possess excellent teaching skills, be well organised, be able to work as part of a team and flexible. Candidates will possess QTS and have experience of teaching students with a wide range of SEND in a primary setting.

We currently have the following contract types available within our academies: permanent, temporary, maternity cover and casual which are available on a full-time or part-time basis.
