Senior 401(k) Benefits Analyst - Remote
Join a collaborative HR and Benefits team supporting enterprise retirement and benefits operations during an exciting Workday transformation. We're seeking a detail-oriented Senior 401(k) Benefits Analyst with strong retirement plan administration, payroll reconciliation, and data analysis experience to ensure accurate funding, reporting, compliance, and employee support.
Responsibilities
  • Administer day-to-day 401(k) plan operations, including funding, payroll reconciliation, recordkeeping, and participant support.
  • Reconcile payroll and retirement plan data to ensure accurate contributions, funding, and reporting.
  • Prepare and process 401(k) funding files, including coordinating the accurate transfer of retirement plan funds.
  • Analyze payroll, benefits, and retirement data using Excel and Workday reporting tools.
  • Generate, validate, and reconcile reports from Workday and Workday Payroll to support benefits administration and compliance.
  • Respond to employee questions related to 401(k) eligibility, contributions, distributions, and retirement plan administration.
  • Support internal and external 401(k) audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests.
  • Participate in the migration from legacy HR systems to Workday, validating benefits and payroll data throughout the implementation.
  • Perform end-to-end testing of Workday Benefits and Payroll processes, comparing test results to production data and identifying discrepancies.
  • Partner with Payroll, HR, Finance, and external vendors to resolve data issues and improve operational efficiency.
  • Support additional health and welfare benefits administration as business needs evolve.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience administering 401(k) or retirement benefit plans.
  • Experience with payroll reconciliation, retirement plan funding, and recordkeeping.
  • Strong understanding of payroll reporting, contribution reconciliation, and retirement plan compliance.
  • Experience working with Workday, Workday Payroll, or another enterprise HRIS.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reconciliation, PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and reporting.
  • Experience supporting benefits audits and preparing audit documentation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to support employees and collaborate across HR, Payroll, and Finance teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Workday Benefits implementation or HRIS migration projects.
  • Experience performing end-to-end testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), or system validation for HR or payroll systems.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or other business intelligence and reporting tools.
  • Experience administering health and welfare benefits.
  • Knowledge of retirement plan regulations and best practices.
