SOC Code 21-1012 - Educational, Guidance, School, and Vocational CounselorsPrimary Purpose of PositionThe Senior Counselor/Advisor interviews, advises, and counsels students regarding admission procedures and academic requirements for the nursing degree program. Senior Counselor/Advisor also coordinates and refers support services and programs within the department and university. Senior Counselor/Advisor identifies the diverse needs of students who are striving to meet the program requirements; reviews and maintains individualized action plan to help each student achieve goals; implements appropriate retention strategies to support students' efforts. This person will also mentor other advisors to assure that policies and procedures are consistent.
