About Morning Consult:

Morning Consult is a global decision intelligence company changing how modern leaders make smarter, faster, better decisions. The company pairs its proprietary high-frequency data with applied artificial intelligence to better inform decisions on what people think and how they will act.

This role is available in any of our office locations (Washington, DC; New York, NY; Chicago, IL) or can be based remotely.

Our award-winning and modern, open concept offices are located in Washington, DC, Chicago, IL and New York, NY. All three offices are accessible by public transportation and in close proximity to great restaurants and shopping.

Join us in the office for catered lunch on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays or grab a beverage from the fridge for an impromptu after-work happy hour!

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and talented Senior Account Manager to join our commercial team. In this role, you will own a small portfolio of our largest, most strategic accounts — globally recognized brands across technology, financial services, media, retail, and beyond — and be responsible for both protecting and aggressively growing that revenue.

You will manage high-value, strategic accounts with a clear mandate to protect and expand that revenue through proactive relationship development, multi-threaded stakeholder engagement, and disciplined commercial execution. Renewals are the foundation of this role, and strategic growth is the expectation on top of it. You will be expected to think like an owner, operate with urgency, and bring the executive presence required to engage C-suite decision-makers at the world’s most influential organizations.

This is the first team of its kind at Morning Consult, so you’ll work closely with our Director of Account Management to ensure efficient pipeline management, accurate forecasting, risk mitigation, and overall success of your territory. You will play a vital role in setting the standard for how this team operates and directly contribute to the overall retention and growth of our business.

You will build collaborative partnerships with our Client Strategists, who are product experts focused on increasing client engagement, value, and satisfaction. Working directly with major Fortune 500 brands as a strategic partner, you will contribute to business outcomes that have a wide-reaching impact.

You are motivated by winning. You bring energy and confidence to every client interaction, whether that’s a first touchpoint or a high-stakes renewal negotiation. You communicate with clarity and command, and are able to hold a room with senior executives and ask the right questions to uncover opportunities. You are curious about your clients’ businesses, not just their contracts.

The Account Management Team at Morning Consult:

The Account Management team is the newest addition to the Commercial Division at Morning Consult. Sr. Account Managers are experts in the Morning Consult Intelligence products. They partner closely with Client Strategists, who support clients with their product expertise to achieve critical business needs and goals. Our team's mission is to drive customer engagement, retention, and revenue expansion by helping clients best leverage their subscriptions to Morning Consult’s syndicated solutions.

What You’ll Be Working On:

  • Owning a small, focused portfolio of high-value strategic accounts, with a mandate to grow them through proactive expansion, multi-department penetration, and disciplined commercial execution

  • Building deep, multi-threaded relationships with senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives, within client organizations to understand their business needs, use cases, and satisfaction with our products

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the contract renewal process, addressing concerns proactively, and delivering on-time renewals with pricing and negotiation led by you

  • Identifying and closing upsell and cross-sell opportunities by staying close to client business priorities and organizational changes, not waiting for inbound signals

  • Preparing and delivering renewal proposals, contracts, and executive-level presentations that highlight the value of Morning Consult’s solutions

  • Collaborating closely with Client Strategy, Sales, Product, BizOps, Legal, and Finance to surface and close expansion opportunities within existing accounts

  • Utilizing CRM software to track client interactions, forecast renewals and upsells, and maintain accurate account and opportunity records

  • Staying informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and commercial best practices to continuously improve our renewal processes and client experience

  • Monitoring customer usage and engagement metrics in partnership with assigned Client Strategists to identify potential risks and opportunities for proactive intervention

  • Performing such other tasks and duties as may be required or assigned from time to time in the Company’s discretion

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time to visit clients, attend industry events, and collaborate with teammates across our DC, NY, and Chicago offices

About You and What You’ve Done:

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in strategic account management, enterprise sales, or contract renewal management — preferably at a data, research, or technology company (DaaS background strongly preferred over traditional SaaS)

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding renewal revenue targets in a B2B environment, with clear examples of upsells, expansions, and multi-year deals you owned and closed

  • Experience managing and growing relationships with Fortune 500 clients and senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives; you know how to show up in a boardroom and command the conversation

  • Executive presence: polished, professional communication style — in writing, on video, and in person. You make clients feel confident in you and in Morning Consult

  • A sales mindset: you think of what you do as sales, not account administration. You are goal-driven, proactive, and motivated by closing

  • Scrappiness and adaptability — you’ve worked in environments without a full playbook and figured it out. Experience at smaller companies or high-growth environments is a plus

  • Strong organizational skills, territory management, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple complex accounts and priorities simultaneously

  • Experience working with CRM software (bonus points for Salesforce CPQ!)

  • Intellectual curiosity: you follow the news, you understand your clients’ industries, and you’re excited by the intersection of data and business strategy

  • Willing to take feedback, learn and grow; an ethos of continuous self-improvement

Note: We view the above section as a guide, not a checklist. Research shows that underrepresented/marginalized groups are less likely to apply for a job if they feel that they don’t meet 100% of the qualifications. We welcome diverse and non-traditional backgrounds and encourage you to apply even if you don’t satisfy every single bullet on this list! It’s expected that you’ll learn and grow throughout your time at Morning Consult, so if you’re open to building new skills, we’d love to hear from you.

The expected salary range for this position is $107,500 - $174,900, with a midpoint of $141,200.

In most cases, we target the midpoint of our salary ranges for new hire compensation. This placement is reflective of full proficiency in a role. This role is eligible for additional variable compensation and an equity grant, which will be discussed in your initial recruiter conversation.
