The City of Azle is searching for a Full -Time Senior Accountant to join our Finance team.
Under the direction of the Finance Director, the Senior Accountant performs advanced functions for the accounting operations of the City including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger activity, account reconciliations, capital projects, fixed assets, debt, investments, cash management, month end and year end close, financial reporting, and year-end audit preparation. Performs other related functions as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Responsible for financial reporting and accounting activities including planning and implementing new Government Accounting Standard Board (GASB) pronouncements. Coordinates the annual audit which includes preparing year-end closing entries, audit reconciliations and supporting schedules. Manages accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and payroll processes. Reviews financial activities and monitors accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with general accepted accounting principles and that adequate internal controls are developed and maintained. Provides assistance to accounting personnel and other departments regarding accounting policies and procedures. Performs other related functions as needed.

Works and communicates effectively with intra and inter departmental staff, the public, and various local, state and federal officials.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills - Proficient with Microsoft Office other Windows-based programs. Ability to use 10-key calculator by touch; Ability to perform various accounting related projects with minimum supervision; Ability to perform internal control audits; Knowledge of fiscal functions and practices of a municipality; Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principal (GAAP), GASB pronouncements, and Governmental Accounting, Auditing and Financial Reporting (GAAFR).
May be required to carry, hold, lift, push and/or pull a maximum of 35 lbs.
Education, Experience and Certification – bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other related field (CPA and/or CGFO certification preferred) with at least three years of accounting experience for a municipality or other governmental entity preferred. Experience working with ERP Pro 10/Incode software strongly preferred. Possession of an appropriate, valid Texas driver’s license.
