Salary: $110,000–$115,000
Location: Brooklyn, NY | Four days onsite, Fridays remote
Job Description:
A rapidly growing mental healthcare organization is seeking a hands-on and motivated Senior Accountant to become the first dedicated accounting hire reporting directly to the CFO.
The company provides innovative treatments for individuals with complex mental health conditions and is currently undergoing significant expansion. It operates multiple clinical locations across New York, New Jersey, and Florida, with additional clinics scheduled to open and continued nationwide growth planned.
This is an exciting opportunity for an accountant who wants direct exposure to senior leadership, the ability to help build an accounting function, and a clear path toward increased responsibility as the company grows.
The Senior Accountant will work within a small, collaborative corporate team and take ownership of the company’s core day-to-day accounting activities. This person must be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where processes, systems, and team structures will continue to evolve.
Manage day-to-day accounting activities and ensure financial records are accurate and current.
Prepare and post journal entries.
Manage accruals, including payroll-related accruals.
Perform bank and account reconciliations.
Support payroll accounting and related reporting.
Review and oversee work delegated to an offshore accounting resource.
Coordinate with outsourced accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll providers.
Help improve and document accounting procedures, controls, and workflows.
Support the CFO with financial reporting and other accounting initiatives.
Assist with the development of scalable accounting processes as the company opens additional locations.
Identify opportunities to use technology, automation, and AI tools to improve efficiency.
Take on additional accounting and operational responsibilities as the organization grows.
Approximately three to five years of accounting experience.
Healthcare industry exposure is required.
Experience may come from an in-house healthcare accounting role or public accounting experience supporting healthcare clients.
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
Experience with payroll accounting or payroll accruals.
Ability to independently manage core accounting responsibilities with limited oversight.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Comfortable working within a small, growing, and evolving organization.
Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and adapt as business needs change.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with senior leadership.
Experience coordinating with outsourced or offshore accounting resources is preferred.
QuickBooks experience is helpful but not required.
Strong general technology skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Comfortable using automation and AI tools to work efficiently.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other standard accounting tools.

The Senior Accountant will report directly to the CFO and work alongside:
An offshore accounting team member
A part-time bookkeeper
Outsourced payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable providers
The Senior Accountant will help assign and review responsibilities handled by the offshore accounting resource.
Four days per week onsite in the Brooklyn corporate office
Fridays are remote
Once fully trained and established, there may be an opportunity to transition to three onsite days per week
