About the Job: Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant (Cost Accounting / FP&A) to support financial planning, cost analysis, and reporting activities across the organization. This position will play a key role in analyzing operational costs, maintaining financial data, supporting budgeting and forecasting efforts, and helping leadership better understand financial performance trends.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and analyze cost accounting records related to operations, materials, and services
• Prepare cost analyses, reporting packages, and inventory-related reporting
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities tied to cost accounting functions
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
• Investigate financial variances and help identify underlying cost drivers and trends
• Assist with management reporting and dashboard preparation
• Maintain financial data within reporting and planning systems
• Partner cross-functionally with operational and finance teams to improve reporting accuracy and cost visibility
• Analyze historical spending patterns and support financial decision-making initiatives

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
• 3-5+ years of accounting or finance experience with exposure to cost accounting, reconciliations, budgeting, or variance analysis
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and internal controls
• Advanced Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, reporting, and data analysis
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
• Experience with forecasting or financial planning systems such as Oracle Hyperion is preferred
• Exposure to BI/reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau is preferred

Compensation: $80,000 - $95,000 salary

Job Status: Direct Hire. Onsite in Buffalo, NY.
