With a nationwide presence of over 27 locations and more than 6,500 coworkers, you'll find endless opportunities to develop your skills, grow your career, and build beyond expectations.Role DescriptionThe Senior Accountant I is responsible for leading complex general ledger accounting activities that support accurate financial reporting, timely financial close, and consistent accounting practices across the enterprise. This role partners with accounting leadership, business units, and cross‑functional teams to coordinate month‑end close activities, resolve technical accounting matters, improve accounting processes, and provide technical guidance to other accounting coworkers. This role is important because it strengthens financial integrity, advances accounting standardization, and expands accounting capability across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesEnd-to-End Close Leadership: Lead the month‑end close process across assigned legal entities or BURGs by coordinating accounting activities, resolving issues, and completing financial close activities accurately and on schedule.Technical Accounting and General Ledger Stewardship: Serve as the primary subject matter expert for assigned general ledger processes by applying accounting policies, resolving technical accounting questions, and maintaining accurate financial records.Accounting Process Improvement: Advance accounting processes through standardization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives that improve consistency, efficiency, and internal control effectiveness.Audit Coordination and Compliance: Coordinate prepared‑by‑client (PBC) requests and supporting documentation for annual financial audits while supporting compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.Accounting Quality and Technical Development: Review accounting work prepared by Staff Accountants and Senior Accountants while providing technical coaching, knowledge sharing, and feedback that improves accounting quality and capability across the team.Enterprise Accounting Support: Partner with Finance, Payroll, Tax, Operations, and other functional teams to resolve accounting questions, support enterprise initiatives, and improve accounting processes that span multiple functions.General Ledger AccountingLead month‑end and year‑end close activities across assigned legal entities and BURGs.Prepare and review complex journal entries, accruals, allocations, and adjusting entries.Complete and review complex balance sheet reconciliations.Investigate reconciling items and resolve accounting discrepancies using sound technical judgment.Apply company accounting policies and GAAP to complex accounting transactions.Validate general ledger accuracy prior to financial reporting.Financial Close and Audit SupportCoordinate prepared‑by‑client (PBC) requests for annual external audits.Prepare technical accounting schedules and supporting workpapers.Partner with internal and external auditors to resolve accounting questions.Maintain documentation supporting financial statement balances and accounting conclusions.Participate in quarterly and annual accounting compliance activities.Accounting Systems and Process ImprovementSupport BlackLine configuration improvements and reconciliation standardization.Maintain journal entry mapping within ADP and validate overhead allocation methodologies.Participate in chart of accounts standardization initiatives.Recommend improvements that simplify accounting workflows while strengthening internal controls.Develop and maintain accounting procedures and documentation.Technical LeadershipReview journal entries, reconciliations, and workpapers prepared by Staff and Senior Accountants.Provide day‑to‑day technical coaching and guidance on accounting policies and procedures.Assist with onboarding and technical development of new accounting coworkers.Promote consistent accounting practices across the enterprise.Share accounting knowledge and best practices with the accounting team.Cross‑Functional PartnershipServe as the primary General Ledger resource for accounting questions from Finance, Tax, Payroll, Operations, and Shared Services.Support enterprise initiatives requiring accounting expertise.Collaborate with system administrators and functional teams on accounting‑related system enhancements.Participate in special projects requiring advanced accounting knowledge.Qualifications5+ years of accounting related experienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent disciplineMBA and / or CPA preferredExperience with construction and job costing preferredEqual Opportunity EmployerLithko is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
