Senior Accountant

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Accountant in Clayton, MO. Summary: The Senior Accountant will work closely with senior finance leadership and operational stakeholders, providing accurate financial information and analysis to support business decisions. This is an opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a hands-on role and wants visibility in both day-to-day accounting and broader financial planning activities. Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with business leaders to monitor financial performance, maintain forecasts, and evaluate the financial impact of ongoing initiatives and projects
• Support the annual planning process by gathering information from various areas of the organization, analyzing financial assumptions, and assisting with the development of the overall budget
• Prepare and analyze financial information used to evaluate operating results, including budget-to-actual comparisons, profitability trends, and other key performance measures
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including preparation of management-level reporting and supporting schedules
• Contribute to the month-end close process and assist with general accounting activities, financial statement preparation, and related analysis
• Work alongside senior finance leaders to ensure timely, accurate, and meaningful financial reporting
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners across the organization to understand business activity and translate operational information into financial insight
• Support annual external audit activities, tax-related requests, and preparation of required financial documentation
• Develop a strong working knowledge of the organization's ERP and accounting systems and participate in initiatives designed to improve processes, reporting, and automation
• Assist with finance-related projects and process improvement initiatives as business needs arise

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 2-3 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with financial data and accounting transactions
• Experience working with an ERP or financial management system; Willingness to become a subject matter resource within the organization
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a willingness to investigate issues and understand the underlying business drivers
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to establish productive relationships and credibility with individuals at varying levels of the organization
• Detail-oriented approach with a strong commitment to accuracy and deadlines
• Positive, adaptable attitude and genuine interest in learning new processes, systems, and areas of business
• Naturally curious mindset with an interest in identifying opportunities to improve accounting and finance processes
• Collaborative approach and willingness to contribute across the broader finance function
• Public accounting or external audit experience preferred
• CPA designation or progress toward a CPA preferred
