Camelot is not a top-heavy organization but instead we place our trust and confidence in local leadership with the corporate administration providing guidance, support and the necessary resources to provide high-quality services.

The Senior Accountant performs advanced accounting and financial reporting functions, supports the integrity of the general ledger, and helps ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close activities. The position analyzes financial information, prepares and reviews reconciliations and reports, strengthens internal controls, supports compliance requirements, and serves as a technical resource to Finance staff and operational leaders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Coordinate and perform key components of the monthly and annual close processes, including preparation and posting of recurring, adjusting, allocation, and reclassification journal entries.
    • Analyze general ledger activity and investigate unusual, incomplete, or inaccurate transactions; prepare timely corrections with clear supporting documentation.
    • Prepare and review reconciliations for bank, cash, payroll, fixed asset, accounts payable, accrued liability, prepaid expense, intercompany, and other balance sheet accounts.
    • Maintain the fixed asset and depreciation records, including additions, disposals, transfers, useful-life reviews, and reconciliation to the general ledger.
    • Support accounting for grants, contracts, programs, and restricted funding, including documentation of allowable costs, revenue recognition, allocations, and reporting requirements.
    • Maintain payroll tax reporting files and reconcile payroll-related accounts and entries in coordination with Human Resources and payroll service providers.
    • Research and resolve misapplied Accounts Payable, Payroll, cash receipt, and general ledger transactions; recommend process improvements to reduce recurring errors.
    • In coordination with the CFO, prepare assigned schedules, reconciliations, confirmations, and supporting documentation for the annual independent audit and other financial reviews.
    • Assist with annual budget development, forecasting, cash-flow analysis, and financial data requests from leadership, funders, and oversight entities.
    • Prepare, file, and maintain required financial reports, including the Annual Unclaimed Property Report and other assigned filings.
    • Serve as backup for bi-weekly payroll process.
    • Develop and maintain accounting procedures, desk guides, schedules, and supporting records in accordance with internal policies and record-retention requirements.
    • Monitor adherence to internal controls and segregation-of-duties practices; identify control gaps and recommend practical corrective actions.
    • Serve as a technical accounting resource, provide guidance to accounting staff, review selected work products, and assist with cross-training and workflow coverage.
    • Maintain confidentiality of financial, employee, client, vendor, and organizational information.
    • Provide backup check-signing support when authorized and perform other duties assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
