Kforce's client in Columbia, MD is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with strong accounting, reconciliation, and analytical skills. This is not a traditional collections role. The ideal candidate will investigate and resolve discrepancies between the Accounts Receivable subledger and General Ledger while supporting revenue, billing, and financial reporting processes. Key Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile AR subledger activity to the General Ledger and investigate variances
  • Research accounting discrepancies, posting errors, and historical transactions
  • Prepare account reconciliations and support corrective journal entries
  • Analyze transaction flows and support month-end and year-end close activities
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, audit requests, and financial reporting
  • Review contracts and billing agreements to ensure accurate revenue recognition
  • Develop billing schedules and maintain supporting Excel documentation
  • Support ERP system activities, data validation, and transaction analysis
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, Revenue, and Billing teams to resolve issues
  • Participate in ledger cleanup projects, process improvements, and system enhancements
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, errors, and opportunities for increased efficiency

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of General Ledger accounting, debits and credits, and financial reporting
  • Experience performing account reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Knowledge of Accounts Receivable processes and revenue accounting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and large dataset analysis
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Accounting degree strongly preferred
  • Experience with Workday or other ERP systems
  • Experience with data cleanup, system conversions, and process improvement initiatives
  • Background in revenue accounting, AR accounting, or reconciliation-heavy accounting roles
  • Experience working in complex corporate, governmental, or multi-entity environments

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
