Position Overview

The purpose of this position is to be involved in day-to-day accounting operations of the Complex Asset Accounting Department including the processing of incoming funds (liquidations, distributions, installment note payments, etc.), recording new complex asset contributions, monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, and the weekly accounts payable process for the internal Supporting Organizations (SOs) through the following duties.

This position is hybrid based out of the office in Alpharetta, GA.

Duties and Responsibilities

Accounting for Complex Asset Activity

  • Performs accounting for complex asset contributions, liquidations, fund distributions, installment note payments and transfers to Donor Advised Funds, NCF General Fund and Local Christian Foundation affiliates
  • Works independently to manage and is responsible for the monthly/annual reporting of the complex asset contributions; includes resolving any reconciliation issues between systems
  • Manages, calculates, and reports on the monthly Ongoing Cost Allocation (OCA) processes for the complex assets and includes the associated Local Office revenue sharing calculations and postings
  • Assists with the oversight and management of the general ledger and chart of accounts details
  • Maintains the internal tracker of all Complex Asset and the status of each asset through completion
  • Coordinates the review and recording of incoming complex asset distributions

Bank Reconciliations and Recording of SMLLC Account Activity

  • Records SMLLC bank account activity into the corresponding Complex Asset Account (CXGA)
  • Conducts monthly bank account reconciliation of the SMLLC bank account statements for assets held in CXGA as well as for some internal NCF Supporting Organizations (SO)

Assists in Providing Required Documentation for the Annual Audit

  • Current year gift documentation to substantiate asset valuation
  • Prior year gift valuation review with supporting documentation to substantiate carry value on NCF’s books

Weekly Accounts Payable and Annual Form 1099 Filing

  • Processes the internal SO payables for the complex assets into the accounting system with proper account allocation and print checks or initiate wire transfers
  • Manages and is responsible for tracking which vendors need the annual Form 1099 for their services and obtains proper documentation to support payments
  • Responsible for the annual filing of the Form 1099s through an outside service

Education

Experience

  • 3-5+ years of progressive experience in accounting
  • 2-3+ years of Accounts Payable experience
  • Vendor Form 1099 tracking and filing experience is preferred

Knowledge Base

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Proven aptitude for “real time” problem diagnosis and solving
  • An intermediate working knowledge of charitable, non-profit, foundation, and/or donor related subject matters
  • Able to perform duties independently
