Volt is Immediately hiring a Senior Accountant for a leading organization in Delano, CA

As a Senior Accountant you will: 

Key Responsibilities

  • Review financial and accounting records to verify accuracy and completeness; prepare and post adjusting entries as needed.
  • Enter and maintain general ledger transactions, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Analyze general ledger accounts, establish new accounts, and update account descriptions in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Evaluate supporting documentation to ensure proper authorization and compliance with contractual, regulatory, and governmental requirements.
  • Maintain subsidiary ledgers and supporting schedules for various accounts.
  • Prepare trial balances and assist in producing periodic financial reports.
  • Perform reconciliations across general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and bank accounts, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved.
  • Compile financial statements and supporting documentation for internal use and external regulatory reporting.
  • Conduct regular bank reconciliations for multiple funds and cash accounts; record interest activity and address outstanding transactions.
  • Prepare journal entries and vouchers on a recurring basis (monthly, quarterly, and annually).
  • Research and calculate assessments, fees, or specialized financial items as required.

Budgeting & Financial Analysis

  • Support budget development by creating projections, spreadsheets, and reports related to revenues, expenditures, staffing, and benefits.
  • Monitor and maintain budget control accounts and expenditure tracking.
  • Generate monthly financial reports for departments and executive leadership.
  • Facilitate inter-fund transfers, loans, and assist in managing investment activity.
  • Conduct cost analyses and recommend process or procedure improvements.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Provide accounting oversight for grants and externally funded programs.
  • Prepare reports required by state or regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain comprehensive records for funding sources and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Assist with audit preparation, respond to auditor inquiries, and prepare supporting schedules.
  • Perform year-end reconciliations and assist in closing processes.

 

This is a temporary- 6 Months position

Hours – 7:30 am to 6:00 pm with 30 minute lunch break (10 hours per day)

Days – Mondays thru Thursdays

 

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a related field is required
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of professional-level accounting experience, preferably in governmental fund accounting or other public agency setting. Masters degree may be substituted for accounting experience on a year for year basis to a maximum of two (2) years.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience is required.

Pay Rate - $36.53 per hour
