Position: Senior Accountant
Location: Worcester Massachusetts On site/Norwell On site (if based out of Norwell will have to commute to Worcester 1 day/week.
Compensation: $95,000-115,000 plus bonus

  • The Opportunity: Reporting directly to the Controller, the Senior Staff Accountant will support core accounting operations across multiple entities, including month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, AP oversight, and acquisition integrations. This role also provides exposure to project accounting activities and offers visibility to senior leadership, including the CFO.



The Senior Accountant’s Responsibilities



  • Own key aspects of the monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

  • Support the preparation of accurate monthly financial statements and consolidated reporting across multiple entities.

  • Partner with Accounts Payable to ensure proper coding, approvals, vendor compliance, and efficient workflow execution.

  • Assist with project accounting activities, including job cost reviews, accruals, and financial data integrity.

  • Prepare financial analyses, variance reporting, and supporting schedules for management, lenders, auditors, and tax providers.

  • Drive process improvements by developing reporting tools, strengthening controls, and identifying efficiencies within accounting workflows.

  • Support ERP enhancements, technology initiatives, and the adoption of automation tools to improve accuracy and productivity.

  • Participate in acquisition integrations, including data migration, account mapping, process implementation, and post-acquisition financial support.



Qualifications



  • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience with direct involvement in month-end close, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting within a multi-entity environment.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reconciliation workpapers, reporting schedules, and moderately complex formulas.

  • Experience with accounting/ERP systems; construction ERP experience (Vista/Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE, or similar) strongly preferred.

  • Construction, specialty contracting, project-based, or job-cost accounting experience preferred.

  • Experience in private equity-backed and/or multi-entity organizations is a plus.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Exposure to AI tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude, or a strong interest in leveraging technology to improve accounting processes, is a plus.
